Chiropractic & Pregnancy

Chiropractic care is safe for both women and babies during pregnancy. Dr. Kellie has been trained in a number of techniques in order to keep mom comfortable during her prenatal adjustments and provide maximum safety for pregnant women and their babies.

Research has also shown many benefits of chiropractic treatments during pregnancy, including decreased intervention during the birth process, decreased need for pain control during labor, the ability to deliver with more comfort, and decreased average length of labor.During the months of pregnancy, hormones cause women’s ligaments and muscles to relax, which may cause pain, and this can compromise the nervous system. There is never a more important time to be under chiropractic care than during pregnancy - the physiological changes that are occurring in both mom and baby are incredible. It is a dynamic process during a short period of time, which means regular check-ups, proper nutrition and exercise, and plenty of planning. Chiropractic allows women to be and feel their best during one of the most important times during their lives - before, during and after pregnancy.

It has been shown that women who stay active during pregnancy have fewer complications during birth than those who do not, and there are also both short and long term benefits to the baby. A quickly changing body can create low back pain, and changing hormones often may cause headaches. Dr. Hoover can help you to remain pain-free and increase your ability to move during this time, allowing you to stay active.

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces the interference to the nervous system and balances maternal pelvic muscles and ligaments. This in turn reduces torsion in the uterus, a cause of intra-uterine constraint of the baby and allows for optimal fetal positioning in preparation for birth. We have seen many breech presentation babies turn head-down in time for a natural birth, which is better for both the woman and the child. Dr. Kellie is certified in the Webster Technique.
