Did you know that chiropractic adjustments can improve your sleep?

I wouldn’t joke about such a precious thing.

sleepy

Almost 50% of Americans report that they do not get enough sleep and that it affects their daily lives. Poor quality sleep is very closely correlated with poor overall health, so it’s an obvious area that needs some work.

Many people know that chiropractic works great as a pain reliever, but few know exactly why that is. The human body is designed to heal itself – whether you get a paper cut, a cold, or cancer. The reason pain goes away with chiropractic care is because the body begins to heal itself.

So how does this relate to sleep? When your brain becomes overly stressed, whether it is physical (sitting at a computer all day, exercise, minor traumas), chemical (processed foods, drugs, alcohol) or emotional (work, money, relationships), your nervous system moves from rest/heal/recover mode into stress/survival mode. In survival mode, your immune system plummets, your digestion is altered, and – you got it – your sleep suffers.

Chiropractic adjustments reset the nervous system back to its normal resting state. We hear reports on a daily basis that patients are seeing improved sleep as a positive side effect of their adjustments. If you’re needing some improvement in your Z’s, now is a great time to get checked out.
